American Robotics
Model: Optimus
Brand: American Robotics
American Robotics (AR), part of Ondas Holdings, builds advanced autonomous drone-in-a-box (DIB) systems.
American Robotics (AR), a subsidiary of Ondas Holdings, is a leading player in autonomous drone operations and drone-in-a-box (DIB) systems. AR's solutions are deeply integrated into UTM (Uncrewed Traffic Management), AAM (Advanced Air Mobility), and UAM (Urban Air Mobility) ecosystems, with growing capabilities in counter-UAS and automated inspection.
Optimus is a fully autonomous drone-in-a-box system developed by Ondas owned Airobotics and now operated by American Robotics. It’s FAA Type Certified (Optimus 1-EX) and designed for high-frequency, industrial-grade operations in complex airspace.
Key Capabilities:
- Automated takeoff, landing, and docking
- Robotic arm for automatic battery and payload swapping
- Modular payloads: EO/IR, LiDAR, gas sensors, photogrammetry, etc.
- 24/7 autonomous flight scheduling with remote operation
- API-driven control via the Airobotics Fleet Management platform
AR’s Optimus System is a fully autonomous drone-in-a-box platform: a self-contained airbase where drones autonomously take off, land, swap batteries and payloads, and upload data—no human on-site required, Optimus is the first FAA Type Certified as airworthy drone-in-a-box system. It operates 24/7 and is capable of Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) missions, including flights over people and moving vehicles under FAA waivers. Their waiver allows full remote operations in complex airspace. The system is equipped with multiple detection systems: ADS-B, AIS, FLARM, software-defined radar (Echodyne), and airspace deconfliction via ANRA—ensuring safe flights in congested or controlled airspace. It is also climate-controlled and implements secure data handling. It is IP 52 rain resistant and IP 54 climate controlled. It can swap up to 11 batteries.
Optimus has a unique automated payload swapping capability that allows its drone to be multifunctional. It supports up to 9 swappable payloads. Modular swappable payloads enable different data collection applications to be services from the same system.
Flight time is 40 minutes for a range of approximately 5-10 miles.
AR’s Kestrel Airspace Management and Security System
Kestrel is an integrated airspace sentinel. The Kestrel System is a comprehensive solution that integrates active radar, passive detection, and a fused airspace management interface that detects and displays both cooperative and non-cooperative air traffic to ensure the safety of your airspace by precisely detecting, locating, and tracking aircraft (UAS).
AR’s Iron Drone Raider An Autonomous Counter-UAS for Critical Security
The Iron Drone Raider System is designed to meet the dynamic needs of today’s most sensitive environments. Use it for permanent installations to protect airports, stadiums, and government facilities or deploy it on the go for rapid response missions. With unmatched flexibility and performance, Raider ensures airspace control wherever it’s needed.
A fully autonomous counter-UAS drone in a box. Iron Drone Raider is an autonomous interceptor, ideal for high-security zones needing self-contained detection-to-take-down capability. It automates detection through neutralization of drone threats. It is ideal for military convoys, critical sites, and events.
